What is Nia?

Nia is an internationally acclaimed cardiovascular mind-body movement that combines martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Nia has changed people’s lives with its evolutionary approach to fitness and wellness since 1983.


Nia can be practiced by people of all ages and ability levels.  All Nia movements are based on moving the body in accordance with its natural design and function. Participants are encouraged to explore three planes of movement and to choose from three intensity levels based on their individual needs.

Nia is a no-impact, movement class that draws from a number of disciplines including yoga, Tae Kwon Do, Jazz, Alexander Technique, Tai Chi. Routines are created for safety and joy, all while getting a great cardiovascular workout.  Hmm.. fun, safety, good music, joy and cardiovascular health all in one package.
